Get first-aid confident where help is hours, not minutes, away. This is a hands-on, nationally recognised Wilderness First Aid course run on Emergency Australia's own field training property at Yass River — real terrain, real scenarios, taught by working emergency and pre-hospital professionals. It's built for bushwalkers, farmers, four-wheel-drivers, guides, station and field workers, and anyone who works or plays beyond easy reach of an ambulance.

Nationally recognised — SISSS00140 Wilderness First Aid

On successful completion you'll be awarded the nationally recognised SISSS00140 Wilderness First Aid skill set, made up of:

  • HLTAID011 Provide first aid
  • SISOFLD004 Provide first aid in a remote location
  • SISXEMR004 Coordinate emergency responses

19–23 October 2026 (five days) at the Emergency Australia field training area, Yass River, NSW 2582. Full arrival details are sent after booking.

What you'll learn

  • Managing a casualty when definitive care is delayed or remote
  • Primary and secondary casualty assessment in the field
  • Bleeding control, wound care and improvised fracture immobilisation
  • Environmental emergencies — heat, cold, snake and insect bites, dehydration
  • Casualty movement, emergency planning and calling for help from remote areas
  • Building and using a practical remote first-aid kit

What to bring

There are no formal prerequisites. As this is nationally recognised training, you'll need a Unique Student Identifier (USI) — we'll help you with this after booking.
